The final event on the PGA Tour before the start of the U.S. Open is set for this weekend, as TPC Toronto hosts the Canadian Open. All eyes will be on Rory McIlroy, as the Northern Irishman bids to bounce back to form after a disappointing PGA Championship performance. You can find the odds and picks here.

Event Preview

There are few more prestigious events on the PGA Tour than the Canadian Open. With the exceptions of the two World Wars and the COVID-19 pandemic, the event has been staged annually since 1904. In fact, only The Open Championship and U.S. Open have been continuously staged more frequently than the Canadian Open.

This weekend’s event will be played at the par-70 TPC Toronto at the Osprey Valley. A total distance of 6,966 yards will be covered by the field, with the stroke play event offering a purse of $9.4 million. McIlroy holds the aggregate record, while the best par score was set by Johnny Palmer in 1952.

McIlroy has an excellent record at the Canadian Open, and he goes in search of a third event victory this weekend. Despite finishing in a poor tie for 47th at the PGA Championship, his form this season remains strong after ing three wins and five top ten finishes.

Consistent performances on the Tour have also followed Shane Lowry. The Irishman looks like a winner in waiting this season after finishing as the runner-up on two occasions. Lowry has also finished in the top 20 spots on eight occasions in 2025.

There will be strong Canadian chances in the home tournament this weekend. Among those include Corey Conners, who has finished in the top ten on five occasions this season. Taylor Pendrith has also been in strong recent form, taking a tie for fifth at the PGA Championship and a share of 12th at the Memorial.

Canadian Open Picks

I do like the chances of a Canadian player this weekend, as Nick Taylor appears to have plenty going in his favor.

The star won the 2023 Canadian Open, and he has been in solid recent form, including when claiming a share of fourth at the Memorial last weekend. Taylor has now finished in the top 20 on three starts this season.
