Fight Preview

Thiago Santos is a former UFC Light Heavyweight title challenger who lost the championship fight to Jon Jones. Actually, it’s the Jones fight that marks the turning point of Santos’s career – everything started going downhill for him after that fight.

Jones destroyed his knees in that fight, from which Santos hasn’t really recovered. Since that fight, he lost four of his five UFC fights, with his only win being a decision win over Johhny Walker. Then, last year, he moved to PFL and lost to Rob Wilkinson on his debut.

It was originally a decision win for Wilkinson but was later overturned to no contest after this guy was suspected of using a banned substance. Now, Santos is fighting again, and we think he’s going to struggle.

The thing is that, physically, Yoel Romero is superior. The Cuban fighter is a former UFC Middleweight interim contender, who’s been fighting in the light heavyweight division since moving to Bellator MMA in 2021.

He’s 2-2 in this promotion, with both of his losses happening by decision. One of those losses happened to Vadim Nemkov in the title fight last year.

Thiago Santos vs. Yoel Romero Prediction

Yoel Romero is shorter than Thiago Santos, but that’s his only disadvantage. When it comes to his advantages, he’s stronger, faster, and way better than Santos in of wrestling. That said, we just cannot see Romero losing this fight.
