Grant Dawson is an incredible grappler who’s won most of his fights by submission. He lands almost four takedowns per fight, which is way more than his next opponent, Bobby Green. His UFC Vegas 80 opponent, however, is an incredible striker who lands 6.14 significant strikes per minute, which is among the best in the lightweight division.
Still, the fact is that “King” as Green calls himself, hasn’t been too impressive lately. He lost two of his last four fights – to Islam Makhachev and Drew Dober. Sure, that’s not something to be too embarrassed about, but in both of those bouts, he lost by KO/TKO.
Then, his fight with Jared Gordon was stopped after an accidental clash of heads in the first round. Finally, in his most recent fight, he defeated Tony Ferguson who was on a 5-fight losing skid before that.

Meanwhile, Dawson’s been fantastic lately. Actually, this guy is undefeated since 2016. Since ing the UFC, he’s won eight fights, while one was scored a draw by the judges. In his most recent fight, he beat Damir Ismagulov by decision, even though he entered the Octagon as a +130 underdog.
The reason why the win over Ismagulov is important is that the Kazakhstani fighter has a similar set of skills to Green.
