Preview
The Commanders were the beneficiaries of a Week 1 home matchup against the rebuilding Cardinals. Many people expected a dominant victory for Washington, but they actually trailed for a good portion of the game. They managed to score 10 unanswered points in the 4th quarter to win the game, but it wasn’t a super encouraging performance. Sam Howell finished the day 19 for 31 for 202 yards, 1 TD, and 1 INT.
Denver was hoping to start this season off on the right note, after a catastrophic result last season. They brought in coach Sean Payton to give the offense a brand new look. Unfortunately, they still had some offensive troubles in their 17-16 loss. Russell Wilson was accurate, completing 27 of 34 es for 2 TDs and 0 INTs, but only averaged 5.2 yards per . He’ll benefit from the return of deep threat Jerry Jeudy.
Prediction
Both of the teams in this matchup were underwhelming in Week 1, making it hard to pick a winner. If anything stood out, it was their respective defenses, which both held the opposition to under 20 points. I expect another very low scoring game in this one. The Broncos will have a bit of an advantage at home, but they haven’t proved they can close out tight games. I’ll take Washington to improve to 2-0 in Denver.
