Russell Wilson Next Team: Prediction, Odds, and Picks
- Wilson was benched by the Broncos for the end of the 2023 season.
- The 9 time Pro Bowler is expected to be cut ahead of the 2024 season.
- Wilson has a no-trade clause in his contract.
Around this time last year, Derek Carr found himself in a situation similar to Russell Wilsonâs current one. Carr was benched by the Raiders and later released, allowing Las Vegas to avoid paying him $40 million in guarantees. Carr ultimately moved to New Orleans, but where will Wilson end up? Letâs take a look at the most likely destinations for Wilson if the Broncos decide to follow a similar path.
Russell Wilson Landing Spots
Pittsburgh Steelers | -200 |
The Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly the front-runners to sign Wilson for the 2024 season, despite their already crowded quarterback room. Coach Mike Tomlinâs team finished the 2023 season with Mason Rudolph as the starter but he is set to hit free agency, and it seems unlikely that they will retain Kenny Pickett or Mitch Trubisky as the starter. Wilson would be an excellent fit for Pittsburghâs system, as Mike Sullivanâs offense favors a vertical ing style.
Atlanta Falcons | +800 |
The Falcons are in dire need of a skilled quarterback to unlock their full potential. After letting go of Arthur Smith as their head coach, Atlanta has a chance to make a bold move. With Bijan Robinson, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts, the Falcons have a solid offensive core that could flourish with Wilson leading them from behind center.
Tennessee Titans | +2500 |
During the second half of the 2023 season, the Titans benched their starting quarterback, Ryan Tannehill, and put rookie quarterback Will Levis in his place. However, Levis struggled to perform consistently, and the team could benefit by looking for an elite veteran quarterback to help him improve and become the franchise QB that the Titans need. Russell Wilson is one such quarterback, as his experience and skillset could align well with Levisâ needs.
Prediction
Wherever Wilson plays for the 2024 season, he may need to accept a different role from what heâs used to. Most likely, heâll be a short-term solution in of starting, with the expectation that heâll assist in developing younger talent for the future. Without a doubt, there will be plenty of interest in his services as teams take a gamble on him still having enough in the tank. Although the market has him more likely to the Steelers, I prefer Atlanta as a landing spot for him. Itâs especially a good option since their division is wide open and winnable, which will appeal to Wilson.
