Game Preview
For the fourth consecutive time, Toluca couldn’t beat Club America or score a goal against them. Yet, they were pretty satisfied because they had a solid result ahead of the second leg, which takes place in their own home.
The defensive trio of Barbosa, Bruno Mendez, and Pereira played very well, particularly Barbosa, who had some good roles in the attack as well. This was the second game in a row in which Toluca kept its net intact.
On the other hand, Club America had two solid chances to score and wasted them. They looked well and tried to impose their own pace and tempo, having the ball in their possession, but overall, the attack was a bit inferior in this event.
No matter what everyone says, there is a crisis among America’s strikers because this team failed to score in three of the past five appearances. For us, that’s a clear sign of struggle.
