Event Preview
The prestigious French Open gets underway in Paris at the end of May. The Grand Slam is one of the most grueling of the year, with the action being staged on a unique clay surface. Rafael Nadal is the undoubted king on the surface, but compatriot Carlos Alcaraz could yet reach the same records based on his early appearances at Roland Garros.
Alcaraz showcased his ability on the surface last year after powering through the competition to win a first French Open title. His credentials on the clay were evident once again in May, as he beat stars such as Jack Draper, Lorenzo Musetti, and Jannik Sinner on his way to landing the Italian Open.

Novak Djokovic has taken a slightly different approach in his warm-up for the French Open this year. The Serbian has won three editions of the French Open, with his most recent success coming in 2023. However, instead of competing in Italy to prepare for the Slam this year, he has been involved in the Geneva Open.
Jannik Sinner fell to a straight sets win against Alcaraz in the Italian Open, and that would be a concern for anyone siding with the Italian player in the second Grand Slam of the season. However, he knows what it takes to go deep in the majors, winning three titles. But, he hasn’t yet appeared in a French Open final.
